I find it tricky to agree with the broad proposal of “crackdown” that Reich advocates here. I’d love to see clearer information available to everyone who gets a credit card, and I’d love to see regulation put in that going forward, rates can’t be arbitrarily raised, etc. But at the same moment that no one will try out TALF because they’re worried over the government’s propensity to change the rules… I don’t know. It’s a harder argument to make.
